Understanding the school term 2024 and holidays is essential for planning family vacations, arranging child care during school breaks, and scheduling extracurricular activities for your children. The Start of a New Academic Journey

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that the school year for 2024 for all primary and secondary schools will commence on Tuesday, January 2. This staggered arrangement was first implemented in 2021 to protect the school community during the Covid-19 pandemic. It has continued since then, helping to ease younger pupils into their new school environment on their first day of school.

 

Mark Your Calendars

Parents should note that the last day of school for most MOE kindergartens, primary, and secondary school students will be November 15. Meanwhile, schools used as venues for O-level written examinations will end the year earlier, on October 25.

Holidays to Look Forward To

In 2024, school holidays include Youth Day on July 1 and Teachers’ Day on August 30. Children can also look forward to celebrating Children’s Day on October 4. Additionally, students will get a day off on the fourth day of the Chinese New Year, which falls on February 13.
