Say Goodbye to the Mummy Uniform

Say Goodbye to the Mummy Uniform

Every girl should use what Mother Nature gave her before Father Time takes it away. Escape the frump slump and become a role model for mothers out there.

Every girl should use what Mother Nature gave her before Father Time takes it away.  ~Laurence J. Pete.

Words uttered by a very wise guy. If a man can understand the value of being a woman to such an extent, it’s about time women start getting their game on. Let’s get down to the basics first .You have to realise that it is a gift to be a woman. So are we really going to limit ourselves to the circus tents and khaki coloured pants we pass off as clothes?

All the stages of a woman’s form are sacred and remarkable. This includes the form she takes when she is pregnant and when she becomes a mother. Only women have the opportunity to experience two different body structures in their lifetime – before and after pregnancy. Both body structures are Mother Nature’s way of giving women the best of both worlds with Da Vinci as the inspiration of her works. Let’s celebrate the female body in all its forms with glory.

Still not convinced? One role of women in ancient Greek was to inspire some of the greatest artworks ever crafted. Furthermore, the representation of women in Greek art came nothing close to the structure of a bamboo stick or toothpick, which seems to represent the idea of beauty nowadays. To women out there, when you love yourself, you respect yourself. And a woman who respect’s herself is one that can juggle the duty of a mother, wife and a lady to the best of her abilities.

So here are a few tips from theAsianparent on how you can escape the frump slump while maintaining the role of a mother as well.

Make-up

Brighten up your face with some colors. Go from beige to maroon reds. That little bit of color will go a long way in perking up your face and giving you that little edge. Look at some magazines for inspiration or go to a cosmetic counter at a departmental store for some tips as well.

Give yourself and your closet a break

Force yourself into a new store and look around for some new threads. A little secret to shopping for style is actually right there in the store itself – the mannequins. Stores would have already styled up their mannequins from head to toe in tops and bottoms that compliment each other.

I smell hot mama

It’s all in the scent ladies. Smelling good plays a huge part in first impressions and most importantly, the way you feel about yourself. Most of the people you meet aren’t going to tell you that you have a body odor strong enough to kill a Russian army. Take the precautionary measure of investing in a good deodorant and maybe a signature scent. Adding such light touches to your dressing table will add a notch of class to your image. Smell can affect first impressions and the way others make judgments about you, your mood and the moods of those around you. The wearing of scents is one of the most powerful ways to present yourself to the world.

Haircut

Getting a haircut is a process that gives you time for yourself. You feel good about yourself and it’s a form of retail therapy. Come on! Every woman loves and needs some pampering. If your hair has always been in a ponytail, let it go. You could even get a bob cut and add some color to your hair. Experiment with different styles and find what best suits you. After all, a woman’s crowning glory is her hair.

Your shape,your gold

Strut your stuff. Pregnancy changes a body – take advantage of your new figure by throwing away those old round-necked t-shirts and invest in some v-necked t-shirts. You could even get yourself some flair skirts to go with your new curvy hips.

Be the Change

Looking and feeling good is a very important aspect of being a woman. Loving yourself is the biggest gift you can give yourself and others. You may wonder, “ I have no need to dress up anymore. What’s the point?” On the contrary, people will only respect a family if the woman of the house appears to be a confident and respected figure. People actually judge a family’s status by the appearance of the woman of the house. Therefore, looking good and feeling good benefits yourself and those around you more than you would ever imagine.

theAsianparent hopes you enjoy these little tips which will add a huge difference to your image and wishes you a lifelong commitment to yourself and your family
