Sand sculptures come to life at Sentosa Island

Get ready for some Sandsational Fun at Sentosa, the State of Fun, this September!

Sentosa island harnesses the power of the sun, sand and sea this September with an exciting calendar of events that will be fun for the whole family.  From grandma and grandpa down to the little ones, everyone will be awed by larger-than-life sand sculptures, enjoy relaxing at the beach and make some unforgettable memories. All Sandsational Events are free admission, subject to Sentosa Island admission fees.

Sentosa Sandsation Festival

Visit the Sentosa Sandsation from September 1-17 and be amazed by Southeast Asia’s largest sand festival. Located at Siloso Beach, the festival will feature JOOheng, an award-winning Singaporean sand sculptor who has been turning sand into art for over two decades!

The exhibition space at Siloso Beach will be divided into three zones with JOOheng and his team contributing their talents to Zones 1 and 3. Bring the whole family for a stroll through Zone 1, Singapore, Ho Say! which explores the quirky traits that make Singapore unique. There are even a few sculptures inspired by Singlish expressions!

Get ready to be wowed in Zone 2 where fourteen sand sculpting masters from around the world will be competing in the Sentosa International Sand Sculpting Championship for their share of the $12,000 in prizes.

Over in Zone 3, look for JOOheng’s sculpture Shifting Sand 2, an interactive work that harkens back to his first exhibition in Singapore back in 2010.

In total, Sentosa Sandsation will feature nearly three dozen sand sculptures, some of which will tower five metres over the beach! Make sure you visit during both the day and night time to enjoy two completely different experiences amongst the sand sculptures.
