Singapore Public Holidays 2026 and 2027, and Every Long Weekend

Three of Singapore’s 11 public holidays in 2026 land on a Sunday, which hands you three Mondays off in lieu and six long weekends without touching your annual leave. Below are the gazetted dates for 2026 and 2027, the breaks that come free, and the two spots where a single day of leave stretches a weekend into something worth packing a bag for.

Six of them come without taking leave:

• Good Friday, 3 April, straight into the weekend
• Labour Day, 1 May, into the weekend
• Vesak Day, with Monday 1 June off in lieu
• National Day, with Monday 10 August off in lieu
• Deepavali, with Monday 9 November off in lieu
• Christmas Day, 25 December, into the weekend

And with one day of leave you can stretch more: take Monday 16 February and Chinese New Year becomes a five-day break, or take Thursday 28 May to bridge Hari Raya Haji and Vesak Day into a run from Wednesday to the following Monday. That February weekend is also your window for reunion dinner shopping and working out where to buy Chinese New Year clothes before the crowds thicken.

Public holidays in Singapore 2027

New Year’s Day and Good Friday give clean long weekends in 2027, and Hari Raya Haji on Monday 17 May makes another. The two Hari Raya dates are set by moon sighting and can shift by a day.

The rules worth knowing

• Sunday holidays roll to Monday. If a gazetted holiday falls on a Sunday, the next Monday is a public holiday. This doesn’t apply to Saturdays, so a Saturday holiday like Hari Raya Puasa in 2026 doesn’t add a day.
• If you work on a public holiday, you’re entitled to an extra day’s pay or a day off in lieu, under the Employment Act.
• If a holiday falls on your off day, you get a day off in lieu or a day’s pay.
• Part-timers get holiday pay on a pro-rated basis.

Plenty of festivals fill the calendar without being gazetted. The Thaipusam festival is one of them: schools run as normal and offices stay open, so if you want to bring the family to the procession, that’s a leave day or an early morning.
