ParentTown Mid-Year Rewards: Win tickets to KidsSTOP worth $216

Science Centre Singapore is proud to announce that KidsSTOP™, Singapore’s first-of- its-kind science centre for children, will officially open to the public on 6 June, providing young ones with an edutainment centre, where they can Imagine, Experience, Discover and Dream.

Designed to engage children between 18 months and 8 years old, KidsSTOP™ will spark the interest of Singapore’s young in science through interactive play. Themed zones such as Flight and Space, Built Environment and The Innovation Lab will provide visitors with ample room for exploring various science topics through hands-on activities.

Oceans’ Buddies

The Oceans’ Buddies is Singapore’s first virtual ocean with sea creatures in 3-dimension form as part of the effort to educate children on marine life and how they can do their part to protect the environment. Children will be guided by their educators on marine conservation during specific timeslots as they personalise their sea creatures.

The learning outcomes of this new exhibit would be to educate children on the protection and preservation of ecosystems  and the preservation of vulnerable marine species / ecosystems through fun, interactive and immersive elements. With presentations, workshop activities and a discovery zone in their Critters Lab which will complement the Virtual Ocean, pre-schoolers will learn more about marine life, like how fish swim, what they like to eat and how they survive in the wild.

The main feature of Oceans’ Buddies would be a visually stunning virtual ocean floor projected onto a 4mx3m wall, where children can interact with the educators and learn through experiential play by personalising their own sea creatures. These personalised sea creatures will then be scanned into a special computer system and come alive in the virtual ocean floor.

Why is it called KidsSTOP™?

The STOP sign is like a magic wand that beckons kids to step into an imaginary world and embark on an exciting and inspiring journey of discovery! Imagination is said to help build self-confidence, boost intellectual growth and develop social skills.

With imagination as a tool, a child can inspire and change the world, and KidsSTOP™ will be a place that provides ample opportunities for their dreams to take off. KidsSTOP™ does not refer to a command for kids to stop. In fact, it represents a place where kids can stop to rest and escape from the busy world outside. A place where they can Imagine, Experience, Discover and Dream.
