PSLE Results out on 22nd November 2012

The PSLE results will be out this Thursday, find out more about what you have to do once your child gets his results

The Ministry of Education has just announced that the PSLE results will be released this Thursday, 22nd November 2012.

Students who took their PSLE in 2012 are advised to head to their respective primary schools to obtain their PSLE results slip from noon on the 22nd of November.

Besides the PSLE results slip, eligible students will also receive their option forms to select their preferred secondary schools.

Submission of Secondary One Option
After receiving the PSLE results, the selection of secondary school can be done through the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) S1 Posting website starting from 12.00 noon on 22 November 2012 to 3.00 pm on 28 November 2012. The site is available for access 24 hours daily, so parents should not worry about there being no time to submit their child’s options.

Notice to parents
MOE has advised parents to consider carefully their children’s choices of secondary schools and to complete the option form before logging on to the S1 posting site, to ensure a smooth and quick online submission.

Alternatively, parents and their child can choose to submit the secondary school option form through their child’s primary school. Do take note that submission at the primary schools will be from 12.00 noon to 3.00 pm on 22 November 2012; and 9.00 am to 3.00 pm between 23 November and 28 November 2012, excluding Saturday and Sunday.

What if I’ve missed the submissions period
For those who have missed the one week period for submission of options, they may still approach their primary schools for assistance on 29 November 2012, from 9.00am to 12.00 noon.

How are you preparing for the PSLE results?

New schools to consider
There are a few extra options for parents and students to consider when making their choice for a suitable secondary school.

According to a Channel News Asia report, one of these new schools is Crest Secondary School, a new Specialised School for Normal (Technical) students. The school will be admitting its first batch of Secondary 1 students in January 2013.

What makes Crest different from other secondary schools offering the N(T) course is that students are given the opportunities to specialise in one of four ITE Skills Certificate courses at upper secondary, namely Hospitality Services, Retail Services, Facility Services and Mechanical Servicing.

This is beyond the compulsory N(T) English Language, Mother Tongue Language and Mathematics already being offered.

Parents who are keen to send their children to a school that offers the Integrated Programme (IP) will be pleased to know that they will have more options to choose from as six more schools will be offering it from Secondary One in the 2013 academic year. These schools are Catholic High School, CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School, Methodist Girls’ School, Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, St Joseph’s Institution and Temasek Junior College.

Results
The results for the Secondary One posting will be released on 19 December 2012 and students are expected to report to their respective secondary schools from the 2nd of January.
