Top 10 things to look out for during a PreSchool Welcome Day

4 min read

These days a child’s structured learning journey generally starts not from a kindergarten but from a Preschool. Away from parents, the child begins to learn at a Preschool in a structured environment with rules, through a wide range of learning activities such as arts and craft, music and drama, and storytelling.

Preschools not only give children exposure to learning but also socializing. They also become disciplined over time and learn how to listen when someone else is speaking, or how to sit still for longer periods of time.

If you are looking for the right preschool for your child, be sure not to miss MindChamps PreSchool’s Welcome Day. With its unique S.M.I.L.E.S.™ curriculum, your child’s mind will be stimulated with age-appropriate activities, giving him/her a great head start in early learning and a smooth transition to Primary 1.

Preschool checklist:

Here are the top 10 things that you can be assured of when you enrol your child in MindChamps PreSchool.

1. Background, license and awards

The unrelenting commitment to excellence in cultivating young minds has led MindChamps to win the most notable accolade – Influential Brands – Top Brand Winner in the preschool education category for four consecutive years since 2014.

2. Teachers’ qualifications

MindChamps PreSchool teachers are required to undergo up to 200 hours of compulsory training and accreditation with continuous upgrades. Thus, you can be assured that your child’s mind is nurtured by the most qualified and dedicated teachers.

3. Teacher-child ratio

Preschools with smaller teacher-to-child ratio allows your child to get more individual attention and care. At MindChamps PreSchool, our teacher-to-child ratio is below the recommended standard set by ECDA.

4. Curriculum

MindChamps PreSchool’s unique multi-modal S.M.I.L.E.S.™ curriculum refers to the Sensory, Motor, Intellectual, Linguistic, Emotional and Social aspects of a child’s development. The S.M.I.L.E.S.™ curriculum acts as the foundation to develop the ‘3 Minds’ (Champion Mind, Learning Mind and Creative Mind) in preschoolers, giving them a head start in learning as they prepare for Primary 1.

5. School fees

Ask about the monthly school fees and the subsidies that you are eligible for. Singaporean children whose mother/single father works 56 hours or more per month are eligible for the Basic Child Care Subsidy.

6. Enrichment fees (if any)

MindChamps PreSchool offers enrichment programmes such as Gourmet Moments, Creativity & Theatrical Strategies, NeuroMooves and Music for the Mind, at no additional cost.

7. Teaching methods

One of the teaching methods adopted in MindChamps PreSchool is Crafted Play, where our teachers ignite the imagination of the children. This process helps to nurture them to be creative and confident learners for life.

8. School Values

In line with the MindChamps education and life philosophy of 100% RESPECT and Zero Fear, our preschoolers are instilled with important life values which helps to bring out the MindChampion in them. These values include confidence, integrity, gratefulness, compassion, self-reflection and creativity – among others – as we prepare them to face the challenges of the future as young champions.

9. Parent-Centre communication

At MindChamps PreSchool, all centre-level communications are done through a mobile app.

10. School transportation

Most of the MindChamps PreSchools provide school bus services – you can find out the details during your visit to your preferred centre.
