Without asking, the manager used his own Kopitiam card to pay for the pregnant mum's meal.

A heavily pregnant woman in Singapore experienced a kind gesture from a staff member at the basement Kopitiam food court in VivoCity. Seems like the holidays sure do bring out the kindness in all of us.

The expecting mum was so grateful that she even took to Facebook to upload a post on Wednesday (22 December) expressing her gratitude to the Kopitiam manager at VivoCity.

According to Ms Pamela Loh’s post, she visited the Kopitiam B1 food court at VivoCity after “badly craving” for a hot plate lunch.

But before she could satisfy her cravings, she found out the food court only accepted cash or Kopitiam card payment. Realising she only had her credit card and phone with her, there was no other way she could pay for her meal.

She then decided to seek help from a manager and asked if he could help her top up her card using $20 of his money then transfer the sum to him via PayNow.

However, before she could top up her card, the manager told her to just proceed to the stall and order her food. The staff, now identified as Iqbal, said he would be with her shortly after.

Prepared to make a fund transfer to the manager, Ms Loh was surprised to see how he used his own Kopitiam card to pay for her lunch. He even informed the expecting mum that the meal was on him.

As the manager’s actions greatly touched her, Ms Loh proceeds to upload a post in the Complaint Singapore Facebook group. Residents usually use this group to complain about people and other things in Singapore.

As per Mothership, the dish she shared in her photos appeared to be the Pepper Lunch “Big” Rib Eye Steak that costs $16.90. A 10 per cent discount is applied to Kopitiam card payments.

“Thank you Iqbal fr Kopitiam & Foodfare for an extra special meal. It was really sweet what you did for a total stranger. Grateful to have met you today,” wrote Ms Loh at the end of her post.
