Parks in Singapore you must visit

27 Oct, 2013

Singapore might be home to hundreds of buildings, but it is also home to some of the most beautiful and well-maintained parks and gardens in the world. In fact, this is the reason why it is known as the Garden of Eden of Asia.

Be at one with nature this weekend as you and your kids embark on a day trip to some of these beautiful parks!

Botanic Gardens

Botanic Gardens

So overwhelmingly beautiful that even royalty like Prince William and Kate Middleton paid a visit when they visited our island.

Ranked the number 1 tourist attraction in the country, most people are astounded that the Botanic Gardens exist amidst the concrete jungle of our city. In fact, it is home to over six thousand beautiful (and rare) plants and orchids.

< Located at 1 Cluny Road, the Botanic Gardens, is open every day to the public. Families often come as early as 5 o’clock in the morning for picnics or strolls. Plants and souvenirs are also available for sale for those who are interested.

Kent Ridge Park

Kent Ridge Park

There’s no denying that Kent Ridge Park is the place for you if you’re a fitness buff. With its nature trails and uphill terrain, it’s the perfect place for a hike.

It is also home to plenty of foliage– pitcher plants and wild orchids grow along nature trails.

Drive up for an evening picnic with the family and enjoy a fabulous view both before and after sunset, followed by the glittering lights as night falls. You will definitely appreciate the break from the routine of life. The air is fresher up there too!

Mount Faber

Mount Faber

Found the love of your life and want to celebrate? Don’t miss the chance to get romantic and visit Mount Faber Park.

One of the oldest parks in the country, it is highly popular with couples because of the scenic views and multiple lookout points.

Visit Mount Faber Park just before sunset and take a stroll with your loved ones while basking in golden rays of evening light. Take your love to new heights (literally) by finishing the evening with a cable car ride towards Sentosa Island.

As Mount Faber Park is also a rain forest, you and your companion will be able to enjoy the different plants and trees inside the park.

Labrador Park

Labrador Park

Tucked away in the southern ridges of Singapore lies Labrador Park, where you find a panoramic view of the sea. Have the birds sing you nature’s lullabies as you take a stroll with your significant other or kids.

Head down over the weekend and revel in 10 hectares worth of coastal vegetation. The park provides the perfect setting for teaching your kids how to ride a bike or roller blade.

Whatever your preferred activity, Labrador Park is the perfect place to spend a day with family, taking in what nature has to offer.
