GCE O-level Results To Be Released On January 13

7 Jan, 2020

Candidates who previously sat for the GCE O-level examinations in 2019 will receive their O level results on Monday, January 13 2020.

In a statement released on January 6, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said students will be able to collect their results from their respective schools on January 13 at 2pm.

Private candidates, however, will receive their result slips by post. It will be mailed to the address provided during the registration period.

Alternatively, private candidates can also assess their results online on the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board website using their SingPass account.

Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) And Who Can or Cannot Take Part

Students will have to undergo the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE), if they wish to apply to Junior colleges (JCs), Millennia Institute (MI), polytechnics or the Institute of Technical Education (ITE).

The JAE will officially open from Monday, January 13 at 3pm to Friday, January 17 at 4pm. More details for applicants can be found on the JAE website.

It is reported by MOE that the JAE posting results release is set tentatively on February 4, Tuesday. Results can be retrieved through the JAE website as well, or via SMS.

Students posted to JCs and MI
  • Students will have to report to their posted institutions on Feb 5.
  • Students who applied to JCs through the Direct School Admission (DSA) will have to meet the eligibility criteria for admission based on their O-level results—only then will they be admitted to their chosen JC.
  • Students who are admitted to a JC through DSA will not be eligible to participate in the JAE.
  • Students who do not meet the JC admission criteria may partake in the JAE, and apply for courses they are eligible for.
Students posted to polytechnics or ITE
  • Students will receive a letter regarding their enrolment details.
  • Students who went through the Polytechnic Early Admissions Exercise in 2019 and accepted conditional offers to a polytechnic course (with offers confirmed based on their examination results) are not eligible to participate in the JAE.
  • Students who do not meet the criteria may partake in the JAE.
  • Students who went through the ITE Early Admissions Exercise in 2019 and accepted conditional offers to an ITE course (with offers confirmed based on their GCE O-level examination results) are not eligible to participate in the JAE.
According to the Straits Times, Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) students who previously took O-level subjects in 2019 can apply for a place in the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) and Direct-Entry-Scheme to Polytechnic Programme (DPP) using their results for these subjects.

Applications for the PFP will open from 2pm next Monday, January 13 until 4pm on Jan 17.

Students who wish to apply for the DPP (and are eligible to do so) may apply online through the DPP application portal from 2pm next Monday, January 13 to 11.59pm on January 17.
