Commenhers’ mission is to transform old denim pieces and other textile waste into fashionable and eco-friendly apparel.

By sourcing materials from textile recycling companies in Singapore and Malaysia, this NUS student-led enterprise minimizes its carbon footprint while creating stunning upcycled products.

It’s a win-win for both fashion lovers and the environment!

Nuryanee’s path to success wasn’t without its obstacles. As an NUS student diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age, she faced academic struggles but never gave up.

Through hard work and determination, she not only passed her GCE O-Level examinations on her second try but also graduated from Singapore Polytechnic as a Silver Medallist and made it to the school’s Director’s Honours Roll.

Nuryanee’s experience as an NUS student has played a crucial role in shaping her entrepreneurial journey. Through the NUS College (NUSC) and the NUS Business School, she has gained valuable knowledge in marketing and entrepreneurship.

Moreover, being part of the NUSC Entrepreneurship Club and the NUS Social Impact Catalyst (NUSSIC) has provided her with networking opportunities and invaluable advice from experienced entrepreneurs.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

As a student and entrepreneur, Nuryanee understands the importance of teamwork. She credits her support system, including her Residential Student Life Manager at NUS College, for being there for her during challenging times.

Additionally, she has hired two interns from NUS to help with Commenhers’ brand strategy and partnerships. Nuryanee has also formed deep connections with her team of clothesmakers, fostering a sense of equality and camaraderie.

The Future Looks Bright for This NUS Student

With Commenhers’ success and Nuryanee’s upcoming graduation from NUS, the future looks incredibly bright for this young entrepreneur. She has big plans to expand her brand to neighbouring countries like Vietnam and Indonesia, continuing to make a positive impact on both the community and the environment.

As parents, let’s encourage our children to follow their passions and make a difference in the world, just like this amazing young woman.

Who knows? Your child could be the next NUS student to take the world by storm!
