Singapore on Tuesday (4 Feb) reported six more cases of a newly identified coronavirus, 4 of which are its first cases of local coronavirus transmission, the Ministry of Health confirmed in a press conference, as reported by the local media.
The four cases are women who had not travelled to Wuhan.
“Though four of these cases constitute a local transmission cluster, there is as yet no evidence of widespread sustained community transmission in Singapore,” the ministry said in a statement.

There are now a total of 24 confirmed cases in here.
All of the previously reported 18 cases of the comprise 16 Chinese nationals and two Singaporeans who had all travelled recently to Wuhan, the capital of China’s Hubei province.
4 of the 6 new confirmed cases, however, are considered “limited local transmission,” the Singapore government said, having no recent travel history to Wuhan.
Two of them work at a Chinese health products shop in Cavan Road in Lavender which caters to Chinese tour groups. The third is one of the women’s helper, while the fourth is a tour guide who had taken tourist groups to the same shop.
The other two infections were in Singapore residents evacuated last week from the virus outbreak’s ground zero.
One of the confirmed cases, identified as case seven—a 35-year-old Wuhan resident—has recovered and has tested negative for the virus. He was discharged from NCID on Tuesday, the health ministry confirmed.
Government steps up to lower risk of infection spread here
While Singapore has put in place multiple lines of defence to check cases coming in from abroad or being passed within the community, Health Minister Gan Kim Yong told Parliament on Monday (3 Feb) that it must prepare for a long fight against the virus.
With local transmission happening here, the government assures the public that it is stepping up measures to lower risks particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and young children.
