Singapore mum and dad welcome second National Day baby!

10 Aug, 2018

Having one National Day baby in Singapore is rare enough. And yet, this Singapore mum and dad just welcomed their second National Day baby, at the stroke of midnight on Aug 9, 2018!

Couple welcomes second National Day baby in Singapore

According to The Straits Times, little Muhammad Aqil Fayyadh was born at Parkway East Hospital, at 23 seconds past midnight on August 9. He weighed 3.4 kg at birth.

His mummy, Nuraidillah Rapi’e, revealed to The Straits Times that as soon as the baby was born, the doctor started singing “Majulah Singapura”!

Interestingly, the same doctor helped deliver her first child, Nurdaneya Filza, who is two now.

Daddy Firman Akhfar said that both children had their due dates in the second half of August.

“He was due on August 18, but yesterday I started to have contractions, so we decided to come in. The labour this time was shorter and I was more prepared after having the first one,” said Mummy Nuraidillah.

“It’s a double celebration to have both children share the same birthday, especially on National Day. They are celebrating with Singapore too.”

To celebrate the happy coincidence, the hospital presented the family with a cake in the shape of the Singapore flag.
