All items of the SG50 Baby Jubilee gift pack revealed!

Earlier this week, the scrapbook and photo frame which will be part of the Jubilee Baby Gift pack for all Singaporean babies born in 2015 were revealed.

Today (Sun, 23 Nov 2014), all the 8 items which make up the momentous SG50 Jubilee Baby Gift pack were shown to the public and media by the National Population and Talent Division (NPTD).

Gifts for the Nation

To commemorate Singapore's Golden Jubilee celebration next year, all Singaporean babies will receive a special Jubilee Gift Pack, which will comprise of 8 items:

A special medallion Multi-functional shawl Baby sling A set of baby clothes Diaper bag Scrapbook, Family photo frame A set of baby books

All of these items will come in a handy suitcase.

Baby sling

According to Minister Grace Fu, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, the SG50 Baby Jubilee Gift "comes with all the best hopes from this generation of Singaporeans to the next."

Multi-functional shawl

"I hope that every parent who receives the Gift next year will feel the heartfelt wishes of every Singapore who contributed to it.

"My wish for our SG50 babies is that they will live healthy, happy and fulfilled lives as individuals, and that they will work together to take Singapore forward and build an even better home for us all," Minister Grace Fu shared in her opening address.

The SG50 Baby Jubilee Gift is a community initiative led by the National Population and Talent Division (NPTD) and supported by the following ministries and government agencies:

Scrapbook

Parents of SG50 babies can look forward to a series of parenting courses organised by the Government to prepare for their exciting journey in parenthood.

More details will be made available in early 2015.

What could be a better way to introduce elements and places that are uniquely Singaporean than flipping through one of these books?

A set of baby clothes

The items in the Jubilee Baby Gift Pack represents the three "C"s:

"Care" for the baby "Celebrate" family bonds, and "Commemorate" the baby's birth in Singapore's Golden Jubilee Year

Diaper bag

An advisory panel made up of 5 people-sector and community representatives was set up to brainstorm on the creation of the gift. At the same time, more than 6,500 suggestions were received from Singaporeans on the concept and ideas for the gift.

The public was also asked to vote in order to determine the most popular items for inclusion in the gift, and over 20,000 votes were received.

SG50 Birth Certificate

SG50 babies will also receive a specially-designed birth certificate to mark this milestone.

How to register for the gift

Parents of Singaporean children born in 2015 can log on to www.nptd.gov.sg/sg50baby to register for the gift.

You can choose to arrange for a free delivery to an address in Singapore or opt for self-collection at the birth registration counters at maternity hospitals in Singapore or at the Immigrations and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

Planning for an SG50 Baby next year?

According to Dr Jazlan Joosoph, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Raffles Hospital who is also one of the panel members of the Jubilee Baby Gift Advisory Panel, couples who would like to try for an SG50 Baby have up to early April 2015 to make it for a Golden Jubilee Baby.

So, couples who are planning to become mummies and daddies - either for the first time or all over again - here's a little tip to take into consideration!
