Long before a child takes their first steps, parents begin imagining the life that lies ahead of them. When the time comes for those first learning years, choosing a preschool can feel like a momentous decision.
A preschool should thoughtfully support these first steps, not only for the child, but for the parents as well. Step into a carefully prepared environment designed to help young learners grow with curiosity, independence, and confidence. Welcome to House on the Hill!
What Makes a Montessori Preschool Different?

Although Montessori education is abundant in Singapore, some families may not know what it looks like in practice. At the core of Montessori pedagogy is a simple but powerful belief: that children learn best through meaningful work. These purposeful, hands-on experiences and everyday interactions nurture a deep trust in their own abilities as they continue to explore and discover themselves and the world around them.
A typical Montessori preschool curriculum includes:
- Mixed-age classrooms that encourage peer learning
- Hands-on materials that promote independent exploration and self-correction
- Uninterrupted work cycles that develop concentration and focus
- Educators who tailor guidance to the individual child’s pace
Together, these elements support the child as a whole, encouraging not only intellectual growth but also a genuine sense of joy and wonder in learning.
Building Success at the First Step

When parents choose a preschool, their hopes extend far beyond academic preparation, or simply selecting an academic pathway. They are looking for a place where their child feels seen, supported, and grounded in belonging.
They are choosing the environment that will shape their child’s earliest relationship with learning, with others, and with themselves. In the right environment, growth becomes not only possible, but extraordinary.
Founded in 2012, House on the Hill Montessori Preschool is a family-run school created with a simple vision at its core: to create calm and inspiring spaces for children to grow.
Across its four campuses, the school community shares a common purpose: to nurture independence, curiosity, and confidence in every child who walks through its doors.
What Programs Does House on the Hill Offer?

A cornerstone of the House on the Hill curriculum is its immersive Bilingual Learning programme, where languages are woven naturally into everyday experiences. Through interactive games, songs, arts, and movement, children encounter language in ways that feel joyful and meaningful. Conversations unfold in their languages’ natural flow and usage, allowing young learners to absorb and practice them with confidence. Languages offered include Mandarin, English, and Japanese, each accompanied by activities that celebrate the cultures behind them.
Another essential element of the House on the Hill experience is Practical Life, the heart of every Montessori education. Activities such as scooping, pouring, buttoning, preparing snacks, tying laces, and caring for plants teach children responsibility and coordination, while building confidence. These skills may appear simple, but they carry great meaning for a child, offering the quiet satisfaction of doing something successfully on their own.

A Preschool Built on Care, Curiosity, and Community

A valuable part of House on the Hill’s success is our close-knit community. Strong relationships between our educators and parents allow the Montessori curriculum to naturally flow from classroom to home, making learning more seamless and guided.
The early years shape how children see learning, a perspective they can potentially carry beyond their formative years. The upcoming Open House is an opportunity to look around, ask questions, and discover the Montessori curriculum. We look forward to a meaningful beginning with you and your child!
