Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg announced that he and his wife Priscilla are expecting a baby girl.
And in his true trademark style, he shared the news — where else? — but on his Facebook page.
In this heartfelt and touching announcement, Zuckerberg said that “There will be a new chapter” in their lives.
Reflecting on the heartbreaking pregnancy journey he and his wife have had, he says, “We’ve been trying to have a child for a couple of years and have had three miscarriages along the way.You feel so hopeful when you learn you’re going to have a child. You start imagining who they’ll become and dreaming of hopes for their future. You start making plans, and then they’re gone.
It’s a lonely experience. Most people don’t discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you — as if you’re defective or did something to cause this. So you struggle on your own.”
But, “When we started talking to our friends, we realized how frequently this happened — that many people we knew had similar issues and that nearly all had healthy children after all.”
Their pregnancy is now far enough along that the risk of loss is very low and they “are very hopeful”.
In a rare candid moment, the proud daddy-to-be shared that Cilla and the baby are both doing fine, and in fact in a recent ultrasound, the little one “gave me a thumbs up “like” with her hand” and he is “already convinced she takes after” him.
He said that they are looking forward to welcoming her into the world. He and Cilla, who is a doctor and educator, are now going to focus on making the world a better place for their child and the next generation, he said.
We at theAsianparent, would like to congratulate the parents-to-be and wish much health and happiness to the mum and the little one.
