Love Your Body - theshapeofamother.com

theshapeofamother.com - where women of all ages, shapes, sizes and nationalities can share images of their bodies so it will no longer be secret. So WE can finally see what women really look like sans airbrushes and plastic surgery.

Shape of a mother

There is nothing quite as exciting as having a baby of your own. For some women, however, leaving the hospital and returning home can also bring stress over body image. Once slender, you now have a much larger belly. The baby’s already born, but your figure just isn’t the same.

Weeks turn into months. You’ve lost some weight, but the belly (or excess skin, rather) still sticks out like a sore thumb. What happened to that super slim figure you once had?

If you can relate to the story above, don’t worry; you’re not alone. theAsianparent stumbled upon theshapeofamother.com, where women of all ages, shapes, sizes and nationalities can share images of their bodies so it will no longer be secret. So WE can finally see what women really look like sans airbrushes and plastic surgery.

The founder of the site, Bonnie, who has been married for almost eight years is a homeschooling, stay-at-home mother of two young children.

She is also a photographer, a knitter and an artist. Bonnie feels passionately about wanting her daughter and son to grow up with a balanced view of what women should look like, and she wants to change the world.

It was her dream to create theshapeofamother website. On the website, she asks for mothers to send in photos of their bellies, bums, boobs or any other body part to be posted on it. Hundreds of mothers have written in and posted pictures of themselves post-partum.

Some are humorous, some are poignant. Whats important is that they all can relate to one another.
