The Ministry of Health (MOH) preliminarily confirmed 163 new locally transmitted cases of Covid-19 infection as of Monday (July 19) afternoon, of which 106 of these cases belong to the Jurong Fishery Port (JFP) cluster and 19 belong to the KTV cluster.
163 is the highest number of local cases since Aug 10 last year, when Singapore reported 188 local cases.

Currently, 66 cases are linked to previous cases, and had already been placed on quarantine. Meanwhile, 71 are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance, and 29 are currently unlinked.
Among the cases is one senior above 70 years who is unvaccinated, and is at risk of serious illness.
There are also nine imported cases who were already on stay-home notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. In total, there are 172 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore today.
In a Facebook post on Monday afternoon, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said recent numbers reflect how quickly the Delta variant spreads and that it was a result of the KTV and the Jurong Fishery Port clusters combined.
MOH added that it is working through the details of the cases and will share further updates tonight.
COVID-19 Cases Reported In 6 Primary Schools

In addition to the rising locally transmitted cases, Singapore is also reporting an increase in positive cases in different schools.
Staff members and a few primary school students have tested positive for coronavirus over the past few weeks. In addition to Raffles Institution, Concord Primary School, Naval Base Primary School, Opera Estate Primary School, Horizon Primary School, Yangzheng Primary School and Punggol Cove Primary School.
It is therefore, very important to follow the COVID guidelines to curb the infection from spreading further.
As a reminder, here are some precautions that you and well as your children must follow.
- Wear a mask: Don’t step out of your homes without wearing a mask. The government urges Singaporeans to wear masks with better filtration capability. Always keep this in mind when entering confined spaces.
- Use hand sanitisers: Wash your hands with soap and water after you return home. Always carry a hand sanitiser with you. Avoid touching any surfaces and then using the same hand to touch your face and mouth.
- Avoid crowd: Don’t step out of your homes until and unless required. But, whenever you do remember to keep a safe distance from each other in public.
- Get vaccinated: By the end of this week, 50 percent of the population will be fully vaccinated. Even children aged 12-15 can also get their vaccination on the island.
The government is making all efforts to ramp up the vaccination drive. So, if you still haven’t got your dose, book your appointment today.
Remember that even after you get your jabs, follow all the precautions and don’t let your guard down.
