Learning how to sleep train your baby will be helpful not only for your peace of mind, but also for your baby to have a good night's sleep.

In order for your child to sleep soundly at night, it's best to sleep train your baby so that they can learn to self soothe and have a better night's sleep (you included).

A popular sleep training method is called the Ferber method, or the "Cry It Out" method. It involves letting your child cry for a specified period of time before soothing your child. An example would be to first let your child cry for 10 minutes, then 15, then 20 minutes, before soothing them. This will slowly teach them that they are able to fall asleep by themselves as well as self soothe themselves if they wake up. As with most other methods of taking care of your child, consistency is key in making sure that it becomes a habit for your child.

An alternative method to the Ferber method is called the "No tears" approach. It's a more gradual method that like its namesake, involves fewer tears. It involves a much more nurturing, child-centered approach as it involves immediately comforting your child as soon as they start to cry. It also involves patiently waiting for your child to sleep in his or her own time.

Whichever method you use to sleep train your baby, it's still important to make sure that you care for your child and understand that these sleep training methods are not only for your peace of mind, but it's mostly for your child to have a better night's rest without any interruptions such as crying. And there's really no single method that would always work for your baby, so you will need to try and figure out what's the best approach to sleep train your baby.
