If you're a nature lover and bird enthusiast, we have great news! Kranji Marshes Park, a hidden gem perfect for immersing yourself in the beauty of the outdoors, is now open. Let's explore this fascinating park together.

The inauguration of Kranji Marshes Park took place on 1st February 2016, with Desmond Lee, Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of National Development, officiating the ceremony. This sprawling park offers a unique experience for visitors, especially those interested in bird watching.

A Fascinating Background

Located along the banks of the Kranji River, also known as Sungei Kranji, this park has a captivating history. Once adorned with dense mangrove forests, the area transformed into a freshwater marsh when the Kranji Reservoir was constructed in the 1970s, submerging the mangroves. In November 2008, the Nature Society (Singapore) took responsibility for preserving and maintaining this wetland park under the PUB's Active, Beautiful, and Clean (ABC) Programme.

These walks provide access to the core conservation area, typically off-limits to the public due to its ecological sensitivity. It's an excellent opportunity to explore and discover more about the natural wonders of Kranji Marshes Park.

Additionally, Nature Society Singapore (NSS) collaborates with NParks to offer guided walks across the new boardwalk, which provides magnificent views of Kranji Marshes. NSS walks are usually held in the mornings from 7:30 am to 10:30 am.
