Kinderland childcare/preschool

American author Robert Fulghum’s book “All I Really Need To Know I Learned in Kindergarten” tells a collection of short essays that extol the lifelong lessons learnt in kindergarten. Indeed, the preparatory years spent in kindergarten has a direct influence on a child’s social, emotional and mental development.

Established

With more than 30 years of experience in child care and preschool services under its belt, Kinderland is one of the most established local preschool brands. It has an extensive regional network of more than 50 centres across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Bangladesh and Singapore.

Overview of pedagogy

There are 5 distinctive learning areas at Kinderland, namely: Large Group, Logical-Thinking, Literacy Support, Creative Expression and Pro-social. A holistic child development can be achieved with the support of these classroom learning areas:

The Large Group area allows for the teaching of concepts and skills.

The Logical-Thinking area develops children’s mathematical, science and logical-thinking skills through hands-on activities.

In the Literacy Support area listening, speaking, reading and writing skills are promoted.

The Creative Expression area helps to enhance children’s creativity in the arts and music.

Pro-social skills are promoted through dramatic role playing.

It has been a hectic year for Kinderland as they added 4 new members to their burgeoning list of centres across Singapore. We find out what makes Kinderland one of the most established pre-school centres in Singapore by reviewing the new centre which opened this year.

Kinderland @ Marine Parade

If you are looking for new facilities yet having a substantial history attached to a centre, then Kinderland @ Marine Parade is definitely the one. Renovated to include an extended childcare centre adjacent to the more established pre-school, Kinderland @ Marine Parade is the oldest Kinderland branch in Singapore. The revamp of the centre was completed in mid December 2010.

Pre-school:

It does say a lot about a kindergarten when you enrol your child into the same one that you went to. This pre-school has numerous examples of such as it has served 2 consecutive generations of children already.

A distinctive feature about this preschool at marine parade is its Writing-to-Read programme. This computer-based reading programme forms part of Kinderland’s curriculum by stimulating idea expression and writing through phonics. Children learn to utilize their daily speech to form written words. Children also get to attend music lessons once per week for an hour, overseen by professional teachers.

Denise Chelliah, mother of 2 Kinderland “graduates” and Principal of Kinderland Pre-School at Marine Parade, says that “ I’m proud of the centre and its accomplishments throughout the years. Kinderland’s strength lies in the teachers so even though a lot of things are new, the quality of education we provide is still there.”

Childcare:

This child care is as new as it gets, with a spacious gym room that promotes the Kinderfit programme. The programme helps children to focus on the acquisition of basic motor skills as well as to nurture a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle.
