Love 927 DJ Kenneth Kong recently revealed that he and his family were on board a Dream Cruises ship that had a passenger who tested positive for Covid-19.
Kenneth took to Instagram to post a video informing his followers of the situation. The father of three recorded his video from the balcony of his room and spoke about the incident in his classic newscaster style.

Reading out a notice from the captain to all onboard–in his Instagram video –Kenneth Kong shared that a passenger was reported to have been in close contact with a Covid-19 case on-shore.
The passenger was then immediately isolated for testing. While the said passenger’s close contacts tested negative, theirs came back with a presumptive positive result.
According to CNA, Dream Cruises added in a statement that the passenger was fully vaccinated and also tested negative in an antigen rapid test during the day of departure.
Kong also shared that the rest of the guests were instructed to remain in their rooms (for the meantime) to ensure their health and safety. All activities on the cruise were also halted. Only essential service crew members were allowed limited movement within the ship.
After posting the video about the captain’s message to all the passengers, Kong went on to share his personal experience onboard.

As you now know, Kenneth Kong was onboard the Genting World Dream Cruise with his family of eight. He told 8days that they were staying in two separate cabins for their supposed four-day, three-night voyage, which was originally scheduled to return to shore at 9am on 14 July.
It was then at 2am on the 14th when the captain made the announcement about the passenger who was preliminarily diagnosed with Covid-19. At 6.30am, the captain informed all passengers to stay in their rooms. The cruise company also issued a notice regarding the situation.

“Fortunately, me and my family are not on the quarantine list. Our SafeEntry records determined that we did not have any close contact with the patient. We are remaining on the ship under the careful arrangements of the cruise company and are awaiting further notice from the authorities,” Kong said in his statement.
The DJ also stated that he will not be making any further comments until there were new updates on their situation. Kong also shared Instagram stories to reassure the public that he and his family are currently “very safe.”
In his latest Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Kenneth also shared photos of himself and his family appearing safe while still onboard. He captioned the post, “One cruise trip that made it to headlines, and we’ll never forget.”
The current status of the ship’s Seacation
Given the situation, the ship’s three-day Super Seacation ‘cruise to nowhere’ has been cancelled. This was done for the safety and wellbeing of the guests and crew. Those affected can cancel their trip for a full refund and select another cruise.
They may also opt for future cruise credit that can be redeemed on another World Dream cruise that will depart from Singapore from 4 August to 31 March, 2022.
The Ministry of Health will further test samples from the passenger for additional confirmation of their status.
