7 Last-Minute June Holiday Ideas Packed With Fun And Knowledge For Your Kids

With June school holidays almost coming to end, it is time to make the most of the final few days of fun and frolic.

From cooking adventures, to virtual museum tours, from creating their own science kits to baking their own pizza, there is a lot that your children can do before their back-to-school schedule begins. 

If you’re unsure where to begin, fret not. We’ve curated an exciting list of June school holiday activities to pack in loads of fun before classes start in full-swing again. 

June School Holiday Activities: 7 Last-Minute Fun Ideas For Kids

1. Storyfest 2021

Immersive experiences like this one will inspire your children to let their imaginations run wild. 

Duration: The annual StoryFest is on till July 11, 2021.

Storytelling has gone digital this year, with live-streamed performances and workshops. You will be able to enjoy and enrich yourself with all the interesting sessions from the comfort of your home. 

Programmes: You’ll find a host of activities including workshops on handmade puppetry or using comedy in public speaking. There is much for kids choose. 

Other programmes like Young Storytellers Showcase, Stories From Our Shores, will showcase the emerging talents across different performances. They’ll all focus on Singapore’s early heroes.

There are both paid and free programmes, so check out the website before you book a workshop.  

2. Splat Paint House

These free-form art opportunities, be it at a studio or a guided art-jam session from your home, will help your kids to relax and rejuvenate before their school reopens. 

Offerings: The Splat Paint house is a purely DIY zone with no structured classes. So while your kids will be introduced to help your kids get their first few strokes right. But then they will be encouraged to try things by themselves and let their imagination work its magic on the canvas. 

The paints at Splat Plaint House are child-safe tempera paint from New Zealand. These are non-toxic and environmentally-friendly. Plus, hairnets and shoe covers will also be provided. 

Package: The starter package comprises -40x55cm canvas, 400 ml paints, syringe, squirt bottle/water gun, and other tools. Plus, children will also get coveralls, shoe covers, safety glasses. This package can be booked at $43. 

3. Bakeri

If you’re looking for a fun weekend project to do at home, or just want to keep your little ones busy (and happy), these baking kits should be on your to-do list. Little Miss Bento, famous for her bento meals and bakes, has teamed up with Bakeri to create this kit.

Offerings: Each baking kit comes with an easy-to-follow recipe card, along with numbered and pre-measured quality ingredients. They are fuss-free and with no waste. These baking kits are ideal for those who are new to baking or home bakers. All you will need are eggs, basic kitchen utensils like spoons and you are all set to start. 

Cost: Bakeri has many interesting DIY kits. To give an idea, each eight-tart kit costs S$38. You can check the website to see the other options that may pique your little one’s interest.

4. Pizza Expressway Pizza Making Kit

PizzaExpress has come up with a Pizza Making Kit for all little pizza lovers.

Offerings: The kit includes pizza dough, Italian passata tomato sauce and a choice of four toppings. And there’s a cute little chef’s hat and a kid’s apron that they can don while they are at it. 

There will be a list of instructions, including how long the pizza needs to be there in the oven.

5. Blazing Adventures at Kallang Wave Mall

Here’s a great school holiday activities option for kids who want to step out of their homes (safely).

7. National Museum of Singapore Livestream

You can create fun and memorable family moments with your child, all the while being creative. Get your child to decorate and design a usable scrapbook with a unique lighted frame. 

Your family scrapbook can be used as a photo album. Here you’ll be able to capture all the memories of the places you visited in Singapore and also appreciate how our country has evolved through the years.

This activity is suitable for children who are aged 5 years and above, but prior registration is required.

Cost: $30 per family, inclusive of scrapbooking materials delivered to one address

7. Science Kits

Getting your kids excited about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) topics with the help of these science kits. 

Offerings: It has many options and one of them caught our fancy and we are sure, your little ones will love it too. They can create a theme park at home, using over 200 components. This is not a toy but the components together– with a motorised panoramic wheel and carousel wagon–allow kids to build 20 models.

It also has an app to work on the design and create additional models, depending on your little one’s hours of creativity. 

Cost: The Clementoni Mechanics Laboratory Theme Park, S$69.90. It is suitable for children eight years and above.
