When Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux secretly got hitched in 2015, it looked like the Friends star had finally found her Prince Charming. But as luck would have it, their fairy tale romance wasn’t to be.
The Hollywood stars today announced their separation after just two years of matrimony. And this news has left their fans both shocked and disappointed.
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s shocking spilt
Aniston, 49, and Theroux, 46, released a public statement to announce their separation.
“We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship,” they said.
“Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly.”
“Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else’s fictional narrative. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another,” the statement added.
Separation confused many because of Aniston’s interview
But the split has left many confused because the couple seemed so in love. In fact, they even celebrated New Year’s Eve together in Cabo San Lucas, along with fellow actors and close friends.
Not to forget, Aniston even posed for the Architectural Digest magazine’s February issue where she spoke about her $21 million Bel Air mansion which she shares with her soon-to-be-ex husband.
“There was a time when I thought there was something romantic about picking up and trotting off somewhere different every three months,” she was quoted as saying.
“Now I’m becoming more particular about the projects I take. I look around at my husband and my dogs and our home, and there’s nowhere else I want to be,” she added. The magazine did not interview Theroux for the piece.
The couple’s final outing together also fooled everybody!
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, who first met on the sets of the movie Wanderlust, made their final public appearance together last July.
They attended Jason Bateman’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame induction and appeared to be very much in love. They even held hands and posed happily for cameras.
So why did Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux split?
Reportedly, this split was a long time coming and the cracks in their relationship were already showing. This was mostly because of their disagreement about where they should live.
A source told ET, “He much prefers being [in New York] and that’s been a major issue for them for a long time,” adding that most of Theroux’s friends stay in the Big Apple.
“Justin has a very diverse friend group, and he likes that they’re not all ‘in the industry.’ He’s friends with people in the restaurant world, writers, comedians, artists, tattoo artists. It’s an eclectic group and he doesn’t have that type of network in LA,” the source said.
But Aniston did not want to stay there because of the paparazzi.
Even though the couple tried to make it work in the Big Apple, Aniston was just not comfortable being there. “She just never really could get settled in, she wasn’t happy [in New York],” one source shared.
The two were not even pictured together at Aniston’s birthday party in January.
Considering the timing of the split, it can only be expected that many fans have brought Aniston’s ex, Brad Pitt, into the picture. Some even suggested that the two might get back together.
Will Pitt and Aniston now reconcile?
If you recall, Aniston was married to Pitt for five years before they divorced in 2005. Pitt eventually married Angelina Jolie. But now with Pitt and Aniston both separated and single, fans reportedly want the exes to reconcile.
Some of the tweets are just outright crazy.
Irrespective of what many of these fans think, we are still hopeful for a reconciliation between Aniston and Theroux. We understand that marriage is not easy, it takes hard work. And sometimes separation can give you that perspective.
Either way, we hope that they are able to find their share of peace and love in the future.
