Hugh Grant and his new baby girl

UK’s very own infamous playboy; Hugh Grant has become a father for the very first time — at 51!

Hugh is most well known by his charming personality, his devil-may-care smile, his oddly goofy-but-still-endearing haircut and his roles in romantic hits like Bridget Jones’s Diary, Love Actually as well as Notting Hill.

Back in 1995, Grant who was then in a 7-year-relationship with British super-model Liz Hurley was caught in a…compromising position with hooker, Divine Brown in a Hollywood back alley. The tabloids ran amok with the story and Hugh’s seedy mug shot was featured in every media outlet available. It was not a divine time for Hugh.

It was certainly damaging but this is Tinseltown and bad publicity is still good publicity after all. Hugh has fortunately bounced back from the scandal but he had never been able to shake his caddish image.

The Bridget Jones’s actor is said to have welcomed a baby girl either late September or early October – reports are yet uncertain. A source close to him said that the actor is excited with this new role in his life.

“He’s beaming about his daughter. He’s not with the mum anymore but he’s absolutely thrilled.”

The identity of the mother has not been disclosed but it is rumoured to be Chinese actress, Ting Lan Hong whom Grant had a fleeting affair with in April this year.

Grant has now joined the rank of Hollywood dads who have arrived at the parenting game later then most.

Paul McCartney was 61 when his ex-wife, Heather, gave birth to their daughter, Beatrice; Rod Stewart became a father at 60, while Eric Clapton was 56. Throwing the showbusiness net wider, there’s David Bowie (who was 53), Mick Jagger (53), Michael Douglas (55), Warren Beatty (54) and David Letterman (56).
