If you are looking for a unique venue to celebrate your child’s birthday or host a baby shower, Halia at the Botanic Gardens is an ideal venue. It’s also a superb place to just hang out with friends or to bring your wife for a romantic evening out!
Initially just a restaurant, Halia now includes a new wing of operations, called Villa Halia. Villa Halia consists of the Wine Bar, the Courtyard, for those who enjoy being surrounded by the lushness of the Garden; and the Gallery Room, suitable for private dining where privacy is guaranteed yet patrons are still able to enjoy the expansive beauty of the Garden.
The Ambience
Be it indoor or al fresco seating, Halia offers its patrons a unique dining experience through its layout. When the sun is too blistering, patrons can choose the air-conditioned section of the dining hall, yet continue to enjoy the view of the Garden through its full-glass windows; when the sun plays a game of hide-and-seek and a light breeze blows, one can choose the outdoors and bask in Nature’s creation.
The Food
After a tasting session at Halia, there is no doubt that we would definitely return to this quaint little retreat. The ingredients used in every dish were extremely fresh, as good as plucking it from your backyard and the service was commendable.
Some dishes we recommend:
– Fresh Bircher Muesli With Wild Mountain Honey, Aloe Vera Yoghurt, Fresh Berries and Fruit
This is a great pick-me-up in the morning after a walk around the estate. It is light, refreshing and hearty all at the same time!
– Poached Egg on Brioche with Dill Hollandaise, Roasted Brown Mushroom, Spinach & Tomato With Pan-Roasted Ocean Trout
Perfect if you’re hungry but don’t want to overeat. The trout was roasted to perfection, and who can resist a poached egg with its center slight runny, on a bun?
– Caramelised Banana & Vanilla Custard Crepe With Toasted Nuts and Clotted Chocolate Cream
The perfect finish to a wonderful meal. The caramelized bananas and vanilla custard went surprisingly well together, without being too rich.
Our Verdict:
4/5 stars. We would definitely head there again!
