This glow-in-the-dark path in Singapore is a rather bright idea!

2 min read
This glow-in-the-dark path in Singapore is a rather bright idea!

Guess what, we now have our own glow-in-the-dark path here in Singapore!

If you have always been in awe of those gorgeous, luminous pathways in countries like Netherlands and Poland, well, guess what, we now have our own glow-in-the-dark path in Singapore!

As part of an initiative by The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), a small 100 m section of the Rail Corridor between Upper Bukit Timah and Choa Chu Kang Road in Singapore, has been converted into a glow-in-the-dark path.

How did they do that? Well, it works just like those kiddy glow-in-the-dark stickers. The glow-in-the-dark effect is created by natural, non-toxic light green strontium aluminate minerals that have been mixed into the pavement. These minerals absorb ultra-violet rays from the sun during the day, allowing them to glow for a good 8 hours at night.

We think kids will love their walks on this starry road, so reminiscent of a night sky! Mums and dads, are you thinking of romantic nighttime strolls already? 😉

This pathway is located at the Rail Corridor along Woodlands Road, behind the Downtown Line Bukit Panjang station. Public has been invited to try out the track and provide feedback about the project, so do feel free to let us know more about it!
