Sakura Display Takes Center Stage with Kinkakuji Temple Replica
The centrepiece of this year’s Sakura display is a stunning replica of Kyoto’s iconic Kinkakuji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visitors can step inside the temple and imagine themselves transported to the heart of Japan.
As night falls, the Sakura display undergoes a breathtaking transformation, with specially lit trees and captivating light projections that only appear in the darkness, creating a magical “yozakura” (night sakura) landscape.

The Sakura display boasts more than 140 cherry blossom trees of over 40 varieties, including visitor favourites like Prunus Accolade, Prunus Kiku Shidare, and Prunus Pendula Rubra. A new addition this year is the European plum blossom species, Prunus domestica, which stands out with its delicate white to pale pink flowers.
The display also features quintessential Japanese elements, such as a traditional thatched house, an engawa veranda, a sozu bamboo water fountain, and ema prayer plaques.
Enchanting “Yozakura” at Night
As dusk settles over the Flower Dome, the Sakura display undergoes a mesmerizing transformation into a “yozakura” experience.
Soft lights cast a gentle glow on the blossom trees, creating scenes reminiscent of the night landscapes in Japanese cities during Sakura season.
LED-lit paper cranes adorn the entrance, while projections turn the ground into a koi-filled stream or a street where fallen sakura petals dance in a gentle breeze.
Japanese Cultural Activities and Anime Garden Return
Alongside the Sakura display, visitors can enjoy a variety of Japanese cultural programmes on selected weekends. These include traditional tea ceremonies, music and dance performances, mochi-pounding demonstrations, and a screening of the animated film Josee, the Tiger and the Fish.
Moreover, anime enthusiasts will be thrilled by the return of Anime Garden, which features appearances by regional cosplay artists, a Cosplay Singles Competition, concerts by Japanese artists like anisong singer Hiroshi Kitadani, and a bustling marketplace. Additionally, the marketplace offers cosplay merchandise and delicious Japanese cuisine for visitors to indulge in.
