Catch Gardens by the Bay Flower Carpet Until October 1

Singapore's largest flower carpet is in full bloom at Gardens by the Bay! Explore this natural masterpiece today!

Have you heard the buzz about the stunning Gardens by the Bay Flower Carpet? It’s not your average garden display; it’s a breathtaking tapestry of flowers that’s captured the hearts of Singaporeans and visitors alike. So, let’s take a leisurely stroll through this amazing creation and uncover all the floral secrets it holds.

A Blooming Community Effort

Picture this: more than 100,000 pots of flowers, 20,000 hand-cut blossoms, and over 300 volunteers from various organizations coming together at the iconic Supertree Grove in Gardens by the Bay. It’s a real community effort that’s resulted in Singapore’s biggest flower carpet.

A Riot of Floral Diversity

What makes this flower carpet so special is the incredible variety of flowers used. We’re talking seven different types of chrysanthemums, oxalis, loropetalums, and marigolds – a botanical symphony of colors and shapes.

But the star of the show is Singapore’s national flower, the Papillionanthe (Vanda) Miss Joaquim. Its graceful petals are a canvas for intricate designs representing Singapore’s multicultural heritage – lanterns, ketupats, diyas, and bells. These artistic flourishes, known as Rangoli, were crafted by the talented local artist Vijaya Mohan.

DPM Heng Swee Keat’s Green Thumb

Guess who also joined the flower party? Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat himself! On September 23, he lent a hand in adding the finishing touches to the flower carpet. Talk about a personal touch to an already impressive display.

Conquering Tropical Challenges

Creating a flower carpet in a tropical climate like Singapore’s isn’t a walk in the park. Our weather, with its heat, humidity, and unpredictable rain, can be quite the horticultural challenge. To tackle this, the geniuses behind this masterpiece used live potted plants instead of traditional flower petals, which are more suited to temperate climates. It’s innovation at its best.

Catch It While You Can

Now, here’s the deal – this floral wonderland is a fleeting beauty. You can catch it in all its glory for just nine days, from September 23 to October 1, at the Supertree Grove in Gardens by the Bay. The best part? There’s no admission fee! That’s right, folks, it’s free for everyone to enjoy.

The Gardens by the Bay Flower Carpet isn’t just a garden display; it’s a celebration of nature, art, and community spirit. It’s a feast for the eyes and a testament to what can be achieved when people come together. So, mark your calendars and make your way to Supertree Grove before October 1. Don’t miss your chance to be dazzled by this vibrant, living work of art right in the heart of Singapore.
