“It’s really time to go home and take care of the elders,” Chong said in an interview with Shinmin Daily News. “Singapore has always been and will always be my hometown and my roots.”
Chong has also revealed that she has changed her name to just Celest in English and from Zhang Yuhua to Si Lei in Chinese. “I always felt that Celest Chong Zhang Yuhua is too long and awkward. Every time I fill in a form, I go beyond the allocated space. I love my new name – strong and easy to pronounce.”
The actress, who has also appeared in popular international TV shows like The Umbrella Academy and Titans, is excited about returning to Singapore and plans to continue her career in the entertainment industry.
“Of course, I will act in local dramas and continue to sing,” she said. “Now that I am returning, I will come back to you with new dramas and new songs.”
A New Chapter, A Newer Celest Chong
Chong’s decision to move back to Singapore to care for her family is a touching reminder of the importance of family and home. Despite achieving success in her career overseas, she has chosen to prioritize her family and return to her roots.
Furthermore, Chong’s homecoming is also a reminder of the importance of family values in Singaporean culture. In today’s society, where the hustle and bustle of life can be all-consuming, it’s crucial not to forget the significance of family. In fact, our family members are often the ones who have shaped our lives and supported us through thick and thin.
Thus, the love and support of our family provide us with a sense of belonging and grounding that is vital in navigating life’s challenges. With the constant pursuit of our ambitions, it’s essential to remember that family is a vital part of our journey, and taking care of them is just as important as fulfilling our dreams.
As Chong embarks on a new chapter in her life, we wish her all the best and look forward to seeing her return to our screens with new songs and dramas. Finally, welcome home, Celest!
