The 15-year-old was brought to the National University Hospital while in an unconscious state, police said. While doctors fought to save him, the teen eventually succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Huang’s brother, 18, told Lianhe Wanbao that the family saw about six to eight doctors in the hospital ward. According to them, they tried to resuscitate his brother for two hours but to no avail.

The elder brother said that they were notified about the incident only around 2am when police officers came to their house. Thereafter, he rushed to the hospital together with his mother and grandmother.

Son Usually Follows the Rules

At the time of the accident, Huang was said to be heading home.

According to Huang’s mother to Lianhe Wanbao, the family did not realise that Huang did not return home on the day of the accident. She said they had gone to bed after Huang left home to buy some food.

She adds that her son usually returns home on time and she never had to worry about him staying out late.

On whether Huang could have been distracted by his phone while crossing the road, Huang’s mother said that her son did not carry his phone out with him that night and usually follows the rules.

While she was said to be unable to come to terms with her son’s passing and broke down in the hospital, she eventually told her son to leave with peace of mind.
