Tiong Bahru is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Singapore. Currently, it stands as one of the more common choice to hangout for Singaporeans due to its abundance of cafés, bars and vintage bookstores.

Here is our list of 10 Exciting Things To Do In Tiong Bahru – but don't worry, not all of them include cafés!

Located near Tiong Bahru Plaza is one of the most famous playgrounds in Singapore. The Tiong Bahru Adventure Playground has been commonly featured in local drama serials and advertisements due to its unique design.

The main draw would be the tilting train which consists of an engine, three carriages and a caboose which will be sure to have your kids thrilled. They also have swings, see-saws and a park for the ones who just want to take walk.

Books Actually is one of the main attractions in Tiong Bahru. They sell books ranging from a variety of genres such as film and even sciences. Their products include books, notebooks and stationery from Singapore publications as well as out-of-print titles.

Nope, that's not all. Books Actually also houses CDs/DVDs and tote bags!

Remember watching the film 500 Days Of Summer and wishing you too could have a date at a vinyl records store only to realise that Singapore has little to none of those? Not to worry, Curated Records is filled with vinyls of a variety of genres, you wouldn't leave without getting one!

The vinyls include those of legendary musicians such as Nirvana and Aerosmith, aside from the current chart toppers like Lana Del Rey and 1975. They also have movie soundtracks as well!

If you're in need for some creative inspiration or if you're just craving for a laid back activity, head over to not one, but two of the art galleries in located in Tiong Bahru. Degios.art showrooms consists of vintage sculptures, paintings, prints, carpets and more artworks from Europe and Asia.

Grey Projects consists of two galleries, a library, a working studio, and a live-in residence. Their galleries exhibits the works of local and international artists.

FLOCK Café is actually a family run business that started from their love for the café industry. They sell all day breakfast such as the Big Breakfast – which is a hearty combination of bread, eggs, sausages and baked beans. They also have the very famous Banana French Toast with Bacon, which we can all agree is the perfect breakfast food!

The Tiong Bahru Heritage trail was launched by the National Heritage Board in 2013 with the aim to bring heritage closer to the people. It has since seen the sights of Singaporeans as well as tourists curious to see how far this estate has come.

The 2.5 km trail has 10 heritage markers that includes Tiong Bahru's old architectural buildings. They also host guided tours that are held once a month.

Nana & Bird just moved into Tiong Bahru December of 2015 and sells women's apparel and accessories from local as well as international brands. Their minimalistic interior is not only photogenic, but compliments their products as well.

So if you're a supporter of local fashion labels, visit Nana & Bird and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
