Ex-Kinderland teacher, Lin Min, who made headlines after being accused of ill-treating a 23-month-old girl, now faces five additional charges involving three more children.
Extended Charges
Lin Min, 34, has been charged with three counts of ill-treating a child and two counts of using criminal force on another person. These charges bring the total to six, involving four children in total, all allegedly targeted at her then workplace.
Incident Details Under Wraps
Due to a gag order, specific details regarding the children and the location of the pre-school cannot be disclosed. Lin Min was initially brought to court in August 2023, charged with ill-treating the 23-month-old girl.
New Allegations
The recent charges allege that Lin Min targeted a three-year-old boy on multiple occasions, including forcing him to lie down roughly and tipping a milk bottle into his mouth while he lay on the floor.
Additional Accusations
Further accusations include the ill-treatment of a three-year-old girl, whom Lin Min allegedly restrained to a chair and poured water into her mouth. Additionally, she purportedly used a book to hit a two-year-old boy’s buttocks.
Legal Proceedings
Lin Min’s pre-trial conference is scheduled for March 1.
Kinderland’s Response
Kinderland, following a series of child mismanagement incidents in 2023, was fined $10,000 for two pre-schools where such incidents were found. Specifically, $5,000 fines were imposed on each of the two pre-school centres at Woodlands Mart and Sunshine Place.
Regulatory Actions
The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) announced on Feb 20 that it would limit the licences of both centres to six months following their expiration in March 2024. This decision came after an independent review committee, appointed by Kinderland to investigate the 2023 incidents, found lapses in supervision and training at Kinderland’s headquarters.
Ongoing Monitoring
ECDA has pledged to closely monitor all Kinderland centres moving forward, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards of care and supervision for children in pre-school environments.
