Environmental Learning Initiative's Approach to Nurturing Children Through Nature

Embark on a journey of connection and growth with Environmental Learning Initiative! Join us in fostering a love for nature and nurturing young minds.

In a world where digital screens dominate attention and busy schedules often take precedence, the need to forge deep connections between children and the natural world becomes increasingly paramount.

The Environmental Learning Initiative (ELEI), a champion of such connections, is resolutely committed to instilling core values that foster comprehensive child development. At the heart of ELEI’s mission lie fundamental principles that serve as the cornerstone for shaping young minds and hearts.

Core Values: Nurturing the Child and Respecting the Environment

ELEI profoundly understands the environment’s crucial role in moulding a child’s physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual growth. This recognition of the profound interdependence between children and their surroundings is the guiding principle underpinning ELEI’s educational philosophy.

Imagination and Creativity

ELEI staunchly believes in the transformative power of imagination and creativity in a child’s developmental journey. The curriculum meticulously encourages children to engage with the natural world through innovative lenses. From documenting the nuances of nature’s symphony to dancing in harmony with the rhythm of the wind, creativity finds expression in every facet of ELEI’s programs.

Community and Social Responsibility

In an era characterised by global interconnectedness, nurturing a sense of community and social responsibility is not just imperative—it’s non-negotiable. ELEI’s ethos revolves around fostering an environment where children can thrive as individuals while also contributing positively to the collective welfare. The institution aspires to nurture a generation of leaders who comprehend the essence of environmental stewardship.

Independence

ELEI recognises the significance of individuality in education, granting each child the freedom to explore knowledge at their own pace. This approach equips children with the cognitive tools to evolve into discerning and self-reliant thinkers, fostering a sense of independence that will stand them in good stead throughout their lives.

Programs Aligned with ELEI’s Core Values

Ayam Trails: Gaining Insights Through Nature’s Lens

*Recommended age: 6 to 10 years old*

Intriguing journeys await children as they step into the perspective of the unassuming jungle fowl, lovingly referred to as “ayam.” ELEI’s Ayam Trails program beckons participants to view the world through a chicken’s eyes, nurturing a profound bond with the natural environment.

Through purposeful exploration, children learn to quiet their minds, observe surroundings with intention, and establish meaningful connections with nature and their peers.

Ways of Knowing Nature: Unveiling Diverse Connections to the Outdoors

*Starts Oct 8*

In a world where individuals approach nature from diverse angles, ELEI’s program delves into the intricate tapestry of these connections. Whether a child is an avid hiker, an enthusiastic bird watcher, or an urban dweller craving a touch of greenery, this program offers insights into myriad ways people engage with the environment.

By delving deeper into these connections, participants cultivate stronger bonds with nature and redefine their relationship with the world around them.

Through this program, ELEI aims to foster the ability to identify local biodiversity, enhance understanding of ecosystem dynamics, and kindle a sense of ownership over personal observations through journaling.

School Programmes: Fostering Learning Through Nature

*Price: To be advised Duration: 1 hour Prerequisite: K1 to P3*

ELEI’s school programmes are meticulously crafted around a structured curriculum, ensuring maximum interactivity to optimize student learning. Designed for preschoolers (up to 40 students) and primary school students (up to 25 students), these sessions provide an immersive experience for young minds. Contact us to arrange a tailored session for your school, where children can discover the wonders of nature through engaging activities.
