Drug bust in Singapore: 4-year-old girl found in drug den

Her mother was among those arrested.

In a drug bust in Singapore from June 2 to June 7, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB)  unearthed a horrifying discovery – a tiny four-year-old girl huddled in a drug den.

Drugs can destroy.

Drug Bust in Singapore: What Happened?

In the five-day operation that covered the whole island, authorities arrested ninety-one suspected drug offenders, says a Channel NewsAsia report.

According to the CNB, the operation covered “areas such as Bishan, Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang, Clementi, Marsiling, Punggol, Tampines, Teck Whye and Toa Payoh.”

CNB agents seized forty-eight grams of Ice, 12g of heroin, 32g of cannabis, 23 ecstasy tablets and 55 Erimin-5 tablets.

But perhaps the most horrifying discovery was that of a little girl – just four years old – cowering in a drug den near Chin Swee Road.

She was in the unit with her mother, a  suspected drug abuser. Near the child were several sachets of Ice.

“Five Singaporeans and a Malaysian aged between 22 and 34 were arrested, including two suspected drug traffickers,” reports said. The little girl’s mother was among those arrested.

“CNB officers noted that sachets of Ice were strewn around the unit, within possible reach of the child,” the statement said.

The little one is currently with the Ministry of Social and Family Development’s Child Protective Services. She will stay in their custody until her family can provide continued care.

Investigations continue.

We hope the little girl is okay and that she receives the care and stable family environment she deserves.
