We just came across this truly heartwarming story and HAD to share it with you.

The incident was reported on Stomp by single mum, Jaasrena, who is struggling to make ends meet in Singapore.

Jaasrena is unemployed and has to support her 5 children. 2 of them are in jail.

It was 5 December and Jaasrena was rushing to go to an HDB hub for a computer course. She had just been to court for her son’s sentence and was depressed about it.

Though she had no money with her, she decided to take Grab, hoping that the relative she would meet at the HDB Hub would be able to pay for her.

The computer course really mattered to her – it was a SkillsFuture course, and she hoped to get a job through it.

Anyways, she got chatting with the Grab driver, Grace, who asked her if she had had lunch. She replied in the negative and revealed that she had no money for lunch.

Grace tells Stomp, “I was sharing my life story and whatever that was happening in my life with her. She was very understanding and caring.”

The big surprise came when Jaasrena reached her destination.

The Grab driver refused to accept any money. What’s more, she even gave Jaasrena S$40 and told her to, “please buy food for you and your children”.

Her words got Jaasrena teary-eyed, “I truly never expected her to do this. I couldn’t stop crying that there are such kind, loving and generous people like her in this world.”

We couldn’t agree more!

Recently, we also covered the story of a kind man who tipped a single mum waitress S$ 2,000. In the midst of all the doom and gloom that gets reported every single day, stories like these restore our faith in humanity.

Each one of us can make a difference. Together, we can make change possible.
