What is the minimum budget I should look at to create a simple yet elegant room for my young son?
You do not need to spend a small fortune on decorating your kid’s bedroom. With some creativity you can transform any room into an exciting and inviting space for your child to enjoy.
The first step in your planning is to pick a theme or a general design for his room. Themes with characters like Power Rangers are fine, but your child may demand for bob the builder after a few months! You may want to consider playing with colour palettes as a theme rather than a specific character. Or consider a more general theme like “Dinosaurs” or “Jungle” that work all the way from a nursery to a 10 year old
Some tips for small budget room:
Creative wall painting or using reusable wall stickers or wall murals
Inexpensive wall hangings to showcase their artwork or special pictures and notes to display.
Colourful nylon strings and colourful magnetic paints are inexpensive ways to brighten up a room.
You can self-paint a corkboard with different colours for the kids to pin up their artwork!
Children furniture is the most expensive part for the room. Find quality furniture with dual function. For example, beds that come with trundle storage beneath are fantastic ways to save space and money.
Use old furniture by painting a fresh coat of paint and replace the rough edges with cute handles or stick-on motif.
Decorate the room with fabric and furnishing, it would be fantastic if you can sew the fabric yourself!
