The Ministry of Health has confirmed 618 new coronavirus cases in Singapore Saturday (25 April), a drop from yesterday’s daily record of 897. 597 of the new cases are work permit holders living in the dormitories, while 12 are work permit holders living outside dormitories.
Seven cases are Singaporeans and/or Permanent Residents, and two are on Work/Long-Term Visit Passes. There are no imported cases.
An additional 46 cases have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. There are currently 1,214 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 24 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit. 10,465 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
Northpoint City Shopping Mall Among Seven New Clusters
Seven new clusters were uncovered at ASPRI- Westlite Papan, Kian Teck Hostel, SCM Tuas Lodge, Northpoint City, 21 Defu South Street 1, 8 Martin Place construction site, and 107 West Coast Vale construction site.
Seven of the earlier confirmed cases are at Northpoint City, a shopping mall in Yishun. According to its website, the integrated mixed development also features residences, a community club, a rooftop community garden, a public library, and a town plaza.
Total Number of Cases
A total of 12,693 cases have been reported in Singapore so far, with 1,002 cases discharged.
The patient was an 84-year-old Singaporean woman. She was confirmed to have the virus on 2 April and was warded in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. She died of complications due to the virus and is the 12th of such death in Singapore.
