With Ava turning one in November, we decided it was time for us to makeover her room.
When we first moved to our home, Ava’s room was a guest room for my parents and friends. We chose a latte shade for the walls and kept other elements in the room neutral in grey and earth tones.
While preparing for Ava’s arrival, we replaced the bed with a baby cot, set up a corner for changing diapers and left the walls in latte.

For her room makeover, we wanted to have more girly elements in her room so we decided to give the room a fresh coat of paint in new hues.
Planning for the makeover with Dulux

Painting with Dulux Wash and Wear
We were impressed at the speed the painters worked when they arrived on the day of painting. They assisted in moving of the furniture, and took extreme care in protecting the remaining furniture and items in the room with plastic sheets. The floor was also covered with carpet to avoid any stains.

With just one coat of paint, we could see how vibrant and rich the colours were. As we planned on the painting to be done with the kids at home, we were worried about the strong smells. We realised that with the Dulux Wash and Wear Paint, there’s hardly any paint odour.

Being parents, we (maybe just me, not Daddy Darren) have grown to have a higher tolerance towards stained tables, floors and walls. We educate the kids by telling them that they should draw and paint on paper and not on the furniture, walls, and floor. Accidents however do happen especially at times, when they get overly excited and doodle on the wall. When this happens, we find that it is tough to remove the stains and would need to cover the wall with a new coat of paint which is a hassle.

I must say that I’m extremely happy with how the room turned out about the new coat of paint and furniture.
