7 Unusual fun 'n' learn experiences you don’t want the kids to miss this Chinese New Year!

Yes, the super popular Gong SEA Fa Cai is back, bigger and better! And did we mention, there are great prizes in store as well?

Here are seven must-SEA experiences for families this Chinese New Year!

1. Singapore’s ONLY Underwater Dragon Dance

Chinese new year 2018 celebrations

A dragon dance under the sea, how cool is that?!

Expect the little ones to go wide-eyed with excitement as divers in festive costumes perform traditional dragon dances at the iconic Open Ocean Habitat. They’ll perform alongside 40,000 marine residents such as majestic manta rays and zebra sharks. There’s a brand new storyline and characters this year!

Be mesmerised by the Sea Goddess as she performs alongside the dragon and her beloved marine animals.

Kids can also look forward to the Sea Goddess Storytelling Session. This will take place at the Ocean Dome where she will regale viewers with the story of the Fish of Fortune.

2. Trail of Fortune

Embark on a Trail of Fortune to a prosperous 2018!  Explore three areas, which showcase popular Chinese New Year traditions and beliefs.

Here’s a chance for the little ones to learn more about marine life in Chinese culture. For example, did you know that the leafy sea dragon is considered auspicious?

Kiddos can read up on the 12 zodiac animal signs and see what lies ahead. They can also discover the marine version of their zodiac friend and learn a fun fact or two!

3. Shark Exhibition in Partnership with James Cook University

Get ready to discover a lot more about one of the world’s most misunderstood marine animals – the shark!

What makes these dreaded Kings of the Ocean so fascinating? And why do hammerhead sharks swim on their sides?

Find out why, and a lot more, at the all-new shark exhibition. This stunning exhibition was launched in collaboration with James Cook University, one of the world’s leading institutions for shark research.

Here, your kids will learn about the biology and anatomy of a shark. What’s more, they’ll even get to look inside a life-sized shark!

Fun fact: Did you know that fish symbolises “plenty” or “abundance” in Chinese culture?

4. Educating kids on the importance of conservation

The good-hearted folk at S.E.A. Aquarium have also taken a lot of effort to educate children on ocean conservation, and why stewardship of the sea is so important.

Our oceans are the largest ecosystems on Earth and are the Earth's largest life support systems. To survive and prosper, we all need healthy oceans.

Your little ones can learn about the many ways to save the ocean, from reducing plastic waste to saying “no” to shark fin soup.

5. Meet and greet
