Children Of AMK Bus Accident Victim Raise Funds For Her Funeral

Children of victim raised funds by themselves after she tragically died in a bus accident in Sembawang.

After the tragic death of their mother who met with a fatal bus accident, two children from Malaysia travelled down to Singapore to say one last goodbye.

The 46-year-old woman reportedly lost her life in a bus accident in Singapore along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3. At the time, their cousin had to make a public appeal to raise funds for her funeral expenses.

When the two children received the unfortunate news of the accident on 25 August, they had to borrow money from relatives in order to pay for the quarantine expenses.

According to Shin Min Daily News, Guo Mingju came from Malaysia and lived in Singapore for work. Ms Guo was saving up to buy a house in Malaysia for the three of them, and barely saw her children due to her strenuous working hours.

The accident took place while she was on her way to work in Sembawang. Her two children, Huang Shijun and Huang Peiyan who are 23 and 19-years-old respectively, couldn’t believe what happened at first.

Eventually, they contacted their aunt for assistance to travel down to Singapore. They had to borrow $6,000 from their family to cover all the costs of their Stay Home Notice (SHN).

Aside from SHN expenses, the two children also had to pay for the funeral, rites, cremation and more. The siblings did have jobs but they still faced trouble covering all the costs.

To cover the expenses of their mum’s funeral, the children’s cousin Ms Wong took to Facebook to appeal to netizens for donations.

Thanks to her appeal, it didn’t much longer for helpful and willing netizens to come forward to the family’s aid.  So much that within a day, they managed to raise enough funds to cover the funeral.

Ms Wong and her cousin made sure to thank everyone for their support and kindness. The victim’s two children stated that were forever grateful to all those who helped.
