Bright Starts "Start Your Senses" baby toy recalled: May cause cancer

The Bright Starts “Start Your Senses” Zebra toy may pose a risk of cancer due to a yellow dye that it contains, and has been recalled from UK stores. Do you have one at home for your baby, perhaps given as a gift by someone from the UK? Read this article to find out what to do.

A baby’s toy should be educational, fun and most importantly, safe. An educational toy that may cause cancer is certainly cause for worry. If you have recently bought a toy online from the United Kingdom, or received a gift from a friend in the UK, you might want to pay attention.

This Bright Starts “Start Your Senses” Zebra (Model 9078) by Kids II® UK Ltd. has been recalled as it contains a yellow dye that could be cancer-causing. Thousands of these toys are being recalled from UK stores and returned from homes of worried parents.

Bright Starts “Start your senses” Zebra contains dangerous yellow dye

This award-winning product sold by Kids II ® contains a colour including the chemical 4-Aminoazobenzine, also known as Aniline Yellow. It is a yellow dye used in computer printers, insecticides, paint and varnishes. It is considered to be toxic and may cause cancer if exposed to over long periods of time. This is certainly not what we want or expect from a baby toy.

Thankfully, there has been no report of illness or injury from the recalled product so far.
