10-Year-old boy saves his mum's life by helping deliver his baby brother!

10-Year-old boy saves his mum's life by helping deliver his baby brother!

A 10-year-old boy saves his mum's life and helped deliver his newborn brother!

10-year-old Jayden Fontenot is not your typical 10-year-old. For one thing, he helped save both his mother and his baby brother’s life by helping his mum give birth. That’s definitely something you don’t hear everyday!

He knew that he had to do something

Ashley Moreau, Jayden’s mother, was 34 weeks pregnant when it happened. She shared that she went to use the bathroom, and then all of a sudden, her water broke.

Jayden immediately ran next door to tell his grandmother to call 911, and he quickly returned to his mother inside the bathroom.

His stepdad, Kelsey Richard, had just left for work, and Jayden knew that they can’t just wait for the paramedics to arrive. He knew that he had to do something quickly.

Boy saves his mum’s life

His mum shares, “When he got to the bathroom, he just took a deep breath and said, ‘OK Mum, just tell me what I need to do.”

She goes on, “He didn’t look scared, he looked calm and brave and I said ‘OK I’m going to tell you what to do and we need to get your brother out as fast as possible because he’s breech and he can’t breathe.”

Jayden managed to gently pull out his baby brother, but he noticed that the baby wasn’t breathing. The quick-thinking 10-year-old rushed to the kitchen to get a nasal aspirator to clear his baby brother’s nose.

Soon after, the paramedics arrived and took both his mum and baby brother to the hospital, where doctors said that Jayden’s actions managed to save the lives of both his brother and his mother.

“He is brave, he is strong, he is my hero. I’m just so proud of him. He saved me and his brother’s life,” his mother adds.

“He’s a hero”

For his amazing actions, Jayden was recognized by the city’s mayor, and August 11 was declared “Jayden Fontenot Day” in recognition of his amazing deed.
