Study shows that Asian couples aren’t satisfied with their sex life
Over 50% of couples in Singapore and across Asia are not satisfied with their sexual relationship. This is just one of the alarming findings made by a recent survey.
The survey also found that 1 in 3 men experience premature ejaculation (PE), contributing to sex life frustration and dissatisfaction. Of those who admitted to experiencing PE, 80% remained undiagnosed and helpless.

Sex life survey
These findings are taken from The Asia-Pacific Sexual Behaviors and Satisfaction Survey, which can be found here. It was conducted by Kantar Health and over 3,500 men and women took part. Couples from across the Asia-Pacific region, which included Singapore, were asked to anonymously answer a range of questions regarding their sex life.
Menarini, an international pharmaceutical company, commissioned the study. Their Asia-Pacific Chief Executive, John A. Graham said:
“It’s disquieting to see so many couples face frustration with their sex life. More importantly, the study also shows the depth to which premature ejaculation affects couples, both on the personal and relationship levels”

Quality or Quantity?
Which is more important: the amount of times you do it, or how good it is? According to the findings, the answer is both. Around 3 in 4 people in Asia want to be more sexually active, suggesting a widespread dissatisfaction with the ‘quantity’ side of sex.
However, it is the ‘quality’ that seems to be causing the most problems for couples. Out of the 1 in 3 men who experience premature ejaculation, 30% said that it caused them to avoid sex completely.
Couples also revealed how PE affects their relationships. 44% cited PE as a reason for ‘growing apart’ from each other and 15% said that it could cause a breakup or divorce.

A problem worth sharing
Despite causing sex life deterioration, couples are ignoring this problem and not seeking help. Professor Ganesh Adaikan, from the National University Hospital Women’s Centre in Singapore, said:
“As this survey reveals, premature ejaculation carries a huge stigma among men and their partners, preventing them from taking action about the condition”
A further 55% of males claimed that they had never sought treatment due to a ‘lack of understanding’. A further 47% of women also admitted that they never encouraged their partner to see a doctor.

If you’re not satisfied with your sex life, just like 50% of couples in Asia, it’s time to take our advice. We give you the three most common sexual problems for couples and tell you what to do about it.
[stextbox id=”info”]1. Erectile dysfunction
Getting it up is sort of key to a successful time in the bed. This is a common problem for men of all ages, so a doctor won’t be surprised to see a young man come in with this complaint.
Treatment starts in the doctor’s office. Usually patients are prescribed Viagra, Cialis or Levitra. These are all phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, and work in similar ways.
2. Premature ejaculation
The true extent of this problem has been revealed in this article. It’s an issue that’s tearing relationships apart, needlessly.
By seeking professional help from a doctor, patients can overcome this problem. Treatment usually involves psychosexual counselling either with partners or alone. Medication can also be prescribed.
3. Retarded ejaculation
This the opposite of premature ejaculation. When men are unable to climax for a long time, or even at all, sexual frustration occurs. This is often caused by feelings of anxiety or stress.
A doctor will first find out what is causing the problem. Depending on the cause, patients are offered therapy, hypnosis or medication.[/stextbox]
