As a parent, there are many important life lessons and values that I want to pass down to my sons. But let’s be real, who has the time or energy to be all serious and preachy all the time? So instead, here are ten things that I want my sons to learn from me while I’m still alive, in a funny and lighthearted way.

Kindness

“If you can be anything in the world, be kind,” a wise person once said. The world would be a much better place if more people were kind.

I want my sons to understand that being a jerk is not a good look on anyone. So be nice to others, boys, and maybe you’ll get a few extra cookies at the end of the day.

Curiosity

Adopting a growth mindset is important if you want to succeed.

I want my sons to be curious and to always be learning and asking questions. And by learning, I mean learning how to fix things around the house so I don’t have to. So be curious, boys!

I want my sons to take ownership of their actions and choices. And by ownership, I mean taking responsibility for their messes and not blaming it on the dog. So own up, boys!

Hard work

“There is no substitute for hard work,” said Thomas Edison.

I want my sons to know that laziness is a one-way ticket to being a broke and unfulfilled adult. So get off the couch and start hustling, boys!

Education

More wise words to live by: “A good education is a foundation for a better future.”

I want my sons to know that knowledge is power. And by power, I mean the power to win arguments on the internet and impress people at parties. So keep reading, boys!

Self-care

Nobody wants to be near a stinky dude. That’s your mum saying that to you.

I want my sons to understand that taking care of themselves is important for their overall well-being. And by taking care of themselves, I mean showering regularly, brushing their teeth, and not eating too much junk food. So don’t be gross, boys!

Family

I want my sons to know that family is the most important thing in life. And by family, I mean the people who will always be there to bail you out of jail and lend you money when you’re broke. So don’t screw it up, boys!

Gratitude

I want my sons to know that being grateful for what they have can make them happier and more fulfilled. And by being grateful, I mean thanking me for all the sacrifices I’ve made for them and the fact that I haven’t sold them on the black market yet. So be grateful, boys!

Resilience

I want my sons to know that life can be challenging and that it’s important to be resilient. And by resilient, I mean not crying over every little thing and not giving up after the first failure. So toughen up, boys!

Love

Above all, I want my sons to know that love is the most important thing in life. And by love, I mean the love that I have for them, even when they’re being annoying little brats. So love me back, boys!

There you have it, ten things that I want my sons to learn from me while I’m still alive, in a funny and lighthearted way. I hope these life lessons stay with them long after I’m gone. Because let’s face it, parenting is hard enough without being all serious all the time. So let’s have a little fun, boys!
