5 Chinese Medicine Methods To Increase Fertility

Apart from trying different Chinese recipes, you can also tap into the potential of Chinese medicine in order to improve your reproductive health. Chinese medicine approaches fertility in a holistic way and will help improve your health prior to becoming pregnant, which may prevent you from complications during pregnancy or postpartum. Here are five ways to improve your fertility using Chinese medicine.

1. Eat Clean

Digestion is the root of energy and blood production for conception, so a healthy gut is crucial and comes from a healthy diet. It helps if you focus on superfoods like organic vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes, whole grains and lean proteins while minimising or processed and pre-packaged foods.

2. Keep Your Belly Warm

The Chinese believe that the lower abdomen stores the energy battery or ‘fire’, and sometimes infertility can be due to a ‘cold’ uterus. So you are recommended to keep your abdomen warm gently during the time after your period until ovulation. You can use a hot water bottle or heating pad that will help you deal with it. The hot water bottle will also help you deal with intense cramps with your periods or pain during ovulation.

3. Go Easy On Exercising

This may seem counter-productive but the Chinese methods of medicine suggest that too much exercising can also affect your fertility levels. Studies show intense exercise for more than four hours a week can decrease fertility by 75-80 per cent. Ideally, you don’t need to miss out on exercising but replace it with a more gentle practice like yoga or pilates.

4. Get A Fertility Test

If you’ve been trying to conceive for over a year with little to no luck, it would be time that you have yourself tested for fertility-related issues. Speak to a doctor or a TCM practitioner near you who can help you identify the problem with your fertility levels.

5. Find A TCM Practitioner
