September 2022 will forever be etched in this family’s memory. It was the month when Almahyra’s fever refused to break for 16 harrowing days. It was also the month when their world was turned upside down with the chilling diagnosis of blood cancer. A seemingly routine bone marrow test revealed the cruel truth – Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia had invaded their little girl’s body.

With the devastating diagnosis came a ray of hope. The National University Hospital (NUH) in Singapore offered a lifeline, providing expert care and a treatment plan for Almahyra. However, this beacon of hope also cast a long shadow of financial burden on the family. The cost of the recommended treatment exceeded $670,000. With heavy hearts, they decided to continue Almahyra’s treatment in Indonesia, where it would be more affordable.

She has undergone painful chemotherapy sessions and now faces the prospect of Car-T Cells & Bone Marrow Transplant. Yet, through it all, Almahyra displays a bravery that belies her tender years.
