5 Fun things to do during this December school holidays!

Looking to plan a ‘getaway’ with your family this upcoming December school holidays without using your passports? Read on for some exciting ideas!

The year end holidays are finally here, with junior only returning to the classroom next January. If you’re not one of the lucky ones jet-setting away on a vacation, you might be wondering: how do I keep the kids entertained during the holidays?

Mums and Dads, it’s perfect opportunity to explore five fun-filled activities in this Little Red Dot with your family this December! No need to pack and haul your luggage with kids in tow, across the globe.

Holiday experiences in Singapore

#1 Experience a Christmas winter wonderland in the tropics

Did you know? You can save up to 50% off full ticket price when you buy tickets to the first week of #ChristmasWonderlandSG (2 to 8 Dec)? So hurry and beat the rush! Tickets from $4 at our link in bio.

If you fancy savouring some mulled wine with a hearty bratwurst, while discovering handcrafted gems and nostalgic two-tiered merry-go-rounds at quaint European Christmas markets – we have the perfect place for you.

Soak up the magical atmosphere at Christmas Wonderland 2016, Singapore’s largest yuletide fair that offers an unforgettable and fun experience for the whole family.

Nestled in Gardens by the Bay, spanning a massive 57,000 sqm, be enchanted by the gorgeous Luminarie light sculptures – delicately handmade in Italy – as it illuminates the Marina Bay area at night.

As you weave your way around the Supertree Grove to The Meadow, you’ll also find light sculptures intertwined with four main areas that both young and old will enjoy:

  • The Festive Market

Go all-out Christmas shopping with crafts and vintage finds, and indulge in mouth-watering festive treats at 24 charming European-style mini-cabins.

  • Fairground

Everyone will naturally be in a festive mood as they enjoy carnival rides and games, live music acts and Christmas parades.

  • Ice Palace

Bundle up before you spin around the ice skating rink, zoom down a thrilling 25-metre long ice slide, or even have a snowball fight at the Snow Playground!

  • Hi-5 Funtastic House

Fun awaits as your little ones join in interactive games, dress up as their favourite Hi-5 characters, and groove with them through song and dance.

Calling all fitness junkies and adrenaline-seekers: BOUNCE Singapore, has your name written all over it.

Suitable for kids aged 3 and above, this indoor arena combines recreation, fitness and fun, all under one roof at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard.

You can choose from a variety of trampolines of different levels of interests and difficulties – just take your pick! If you’re up for a challenge, head straight to Singapore’s first indoor adventure course, the X-Park (ala ninja warrior obstacle course), the “Leap of Faith”, or even both! They’ll definitely put your muscles to the test, get your heart racing and blood pumping with every leap you take.

#3 Suit up at Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N.

Marvel fans, have you ever imagined what it would feel like to try Iron Man’s suit on? What about studying genetics in Bruce Banner’s lab (and finally finding out why the Hulk is green)?

You’ll love the augmented reality that is Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network) at the Science Centre Singapore.

At this interactive exhibition, you’ll become part of the adventure by learning about the Avengers and their superpowers through technology, engineering, genetics, and history.

Besides learning the science behind your favourite superheroes, you’ll also be wowed by the original sets, props and costumes of Earth’s mightiest heroes on display.

Be prepared Recruits, your mission awaits here!

#4 Brave new heights at Mega Adventure

The sun is out and ready to play! And so are we! What are you waiting for, join us! #megaadventure #megazip #bluemonkeys

Head down to Mega Adventure if you and your little thrill-seekers are game for an exhilarating outdoor adventure.

A must-try for adrenaline junkies:

A fun day at Sentosa is not complete if the MegaZip is excluded from your itinerary. Get your adrenaline fix on Singapore’s longest and steepest flying fox as you whizz past breathtaking views of the jungles of Imbiah Hill, and the white sands of Siloso Beach.

If you’re up for even more, explore the high ropes adventure course at ClimbMax, get airborne without a plane ride at ParaJump leap point, or even scale new heights at Northface, one of the highest walls in Singapore.

#5 Live your dreams at KidZania Singapore

If junior loves to “save” Teddy from an imaginary burning building while donning his firefighter’s costume or hold impromptu speeches on a step-stool, he’ll be in for a treat at KidZania Singapore, the world’s leading interactive indoor theme park.

Located at Sentosa, this vast 81,000 square feet kid-sized city offers the ultimate ‘grown-up’ experience for children aged 4 and above. Kids can combine their love for dressing up with living their dreams of becoming whatever they choose to be – a surgeon, museum curator, or even a candy design trainee – all via role playing!

Here, kids are empowered to make their own decisions while exploring the city streets. They can also experience life as a little adult through various professions and real-life experiences. They also learn about financial literacy and social skills like working independently and as a team.

While kids are off to experience the “real world”, parents can choose to relax at the KidZania Parents Lounge, or even enjoy exciting performances by aspiring young actors!

Edu-tainment is a smart decision away!

To provide your child with a head start in life, choose the Maybank Family Plus programme which offers triple the interest and plenty of other benefits. Furthermore, from 1 October to 31 December 2016, customers will  receive a set of tickets for 4 to KidZania Singapore worth S$186 when they deposit S$20,000 into a Maybank Youngstarz Savings Account[1]  and S$10,000 into iSAVvy Savings Account[2].
