A woman has been charged with the murder of an eight-year-old girl. According to a CNA report, the 35-year-old accused woman allegedly committed the murder. According to the redacted charge sheet, her relationship with the victim was not apparent.
Police had reported on Wednesday, that the woman had murdered her 8-year-old daughter in Geylang Lorong 31.

After what has potentially been an unfurling of a tragic few weeks with horrifying incidents taking place on the little red dot, comes another shocker. A 35-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly murdering her eight-year-old daughter.
The police were reportedly alerted about the incident–that took place in a residential unit along Geylang Lorong 31–at around 11:40 am on August 10.
When they arrived on scene, the girl was laying motionless on the floor with multiple wounds on her body.
A 35-year-old Singapore Woman Kills Daughter
While she was motionless, she was still alive and seemingly unconscious. So the 8-year-old was rushed to the hospital, but pronounced dead at around 12:45 pm.
The mum–who is also the deceased's biological mother–was arrested at the scene and charged on August 11, with murder. According to CNA, the Police will seek a court order to remand her for psychiatric assessment.
Although, it must be noted that the offence of murder under Section Section 302(1) of the Penal Code carries the death penalty.
The motive behind the murder is not known yet.

A man in China allegedly killed his two young kids by throwing them out of his high-rise building so he could start a ‘new family’ with his girlfriend.
The accused, Zhang Bo, was detained last year, a month after his children's murders. The reason he committed the crimes was to get his girlfriend to agree to marry him as she allegedly wanted him to get rid of his children.
Father kills mentally challenged daughter
Last year, a man strangled his "beloved" child, minutes before calling the police to say he had just killed his daughter.
The accused was sentenced to two years and nine months in jail.
According to a CNA report, the daughter got demanding towards her family members and her boyfriend. For every small reason, she would scold her parents and would blame them for being lousy. The father was under constant mental stress.
On the day of the incident, the man took a metal pole from a dismantled drum set to protect himself from her daughter's wrath. When he went to the kitchen, he saw his daughter holding a knife pointed at him. The man then hit his daughter with a pole until she fell to the ground and then strangled her using a cloth.
After his daughter stopped moving and he released his grip, the father realised what he had done and called the police.
A woman injects son with insulin in a murder-suicide plan
In a tragic incident, a woman who was raped by her brother when she was a child decided to hurt her own son. The reason: he resembled her attacker.
The woman injected her son with insulin–at least on 13 occasions–between January to July 2019.
The woman knew that a high dose of the substance could cause a person's blood sugar levels to fall, leading to death. Her son's blood sugar level did fall, but he survived the attacks.
The incident came to the light when the boy was admitted to the National University Hospital (NUH) on June 10, 2019. He was diagnosed with hyperinsulinism, but the doctors found that he did not have insulinoma.
The woman on being confronted later admitted that she had been injecting insulin into the boy.
The mum was later found to suffer from a post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depressive disorder.
