This university Professor certainly taught through example, by babysitting a single mum’s two kids just so that she could take her final exam.
Yahoo covered this heartwarming tale that has gone viral, where Military History professor Dr. Daniel Krebs coolly and very professionally babysat one of his student’s two children while she was sitting for her exam.
Monica Romera, 28 was in a tight spot when her babysitter cancelled last minute on the day of an important exams. The mum was left with no choice but to take her two kids — Marcus, 4 and Mikayla, 5 — along with her to her final assessment in military history at the University of Louisville.
And because she couldn’t bring them inside the exam room, she had to leave them outside for the duration of the paper.
Needless to say, leaving children alone without supervision is not a good idea.
After the exam started, Marcus started to bang on the door, disturbing those inside. Romero initially thought that she was going to be thrown out of the exam when the professor stood up. Instead, Dr. Krebs was reported to have just said,
“Don’t worry. Go take your test. I’ve got them.”
Soon after, Dr. Krebs was photographed by Ms Romero’s friend Victoria Henry playing computer games with the two kids in the hallway right outside his classroom.
Ms Henry commented that Dr. Krebs had a “kind and caring act committed when the reaction could have been the complete opposite”.
This photograph has since gone viral on social media.
The humble professor did not boast about his act. Instead, he complemented the hardworking mum, stating that:
“A person like Monica, she’s a non-commissioned officer going to school, she’s a mom of two kids. I mean that’s the kind of thing that’s really impressive,” before adding on, “Me handling her kids for 40, 45 minutes, that’s not impressive.”
Dr. Krebs appeared to have fun babysitting the two kids, especially when Mikayla climbed onto his shoulders and started pulling his hair, and Marcus tried to teach him the names of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
